The Welsh Assembly Government has provided a number of grants totaling some £1.6m to enable the project to proceed. These include a grant from Visit Wales toward the re-development of the accommodation and catering facilities, from Cadw to renovate the external fabric of the listed buildings- the cottages, offices and Plas education building and from the Aggregtaes Levy Fund for Wales towards the cost of the period cottage fit out and heritage interpretation and displays. The Department for Economy and Transport contributed match funding for some of the European funding and grant aid to provide a new road.
